The Silo Effect
In February 2007, the cosmos conspired to bring together a group of like-minded individuals with a passion for creating challenging, meaningful, and expressive music. The guys met and began rehearsing in Richmond, VA soon realizing that a significant musical kinship existed among them that occasionally bordered on telepathy.
The band began playing house parties in the greater Richmond area and nearby Virginia colleges, where they began to fully develop their sound, incorporating experimental soundscapes, up-tempo trance and breakbeats, dance music with 70's disco grooves and heavy guitar effects in a subtle yet epic fashion - wide open to space and time. Their first show came on Labor Day later that year at the Boykin Ball Festival in Acme, Pa.
In January, 2008, The Silo Effect began performing in its hometown of Richmond with regular bookings at Emilio's and Cary St. Cafe where they began to develop a strong local following. Within the same year, they landed two shows at Toad's Place Richmond, sharing the stage with the Oregon Hill Funk All-Stars and the DJ Williams Projekt for DJ's five year anniversary and Strange Design (A Tribute to Phish), sets at the Sunshine Daydream Keep It Cool Festival and The Projekt Festival, and were tapped to open for Dr. Fameus (Allen Aucoin of The Disco Biscuits) and 2020 Soundsystem.
The new year marks a time of continued growth and evolution for the band, constantly challenging themselves with new sounds and techniques, but The Silo Effect must be experienced to truly comprehend the vast spectrum of glorious sound they create.
